The purpose of the organization, Day of Portugal and Portuguese
Heritage
in
Rhode
Island,
Inc.
is:
1) to celebrate the holiday, Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das
Comunidades
Portuguesas
(Day
of
Portugal, Camões
and
the
Portuguese
Communities),
in
the
State
of
Rhode
Island;
2) to preserve the traditions of the Portuguese culture for
future
generations;
3) to promote the contribution of the Portuguese people, language
and
culture
to
the
rich
fabric
of
the State of
Rhode
Island.
Message
from
the
President
Let
me
begin
by
extending
a
big
thank
you
to
this
year’s
Dia
de
Portugal
committee
members
along
with
all
the
other
event
coordinators.
Everyone did an amazing job and brought the Portuguese community
well
organized
events.
Also
a
sincere
appreciation
to
all
the
clubs,
organizations
and
institutions
that
contributed
to
the
success
of
these
events.
It
makes
it
an
easy
path
to
success
to
be
surrounded
by
such
talented,
creative,
hardworking
and
generous
people.
It
was
a
very
busy
year!
The success of this year’s celebrations is a testament to the pride
and
hard
work
of
our
community.
So
many
entertaining
events
take
place
during
the
months
of
April,
May
and
June
that
bind
us
together.
It
is
an
opportunity
to
enjoy
our
Portuguese
culture
and
traditions.
I
am
proud
to
have
been
a
part
of
the
2011
Dia
de
Portugal
Committee.
