A
Message
from
the
President
Marie Ray (Rei)
Fraley
This year marks the 31st
consecutive
celebration
of
the
“Dia
de
Portugal,
de
Camões
e
das Comunidades
Portuguesas”
in
the
State
of
Rhode
Island.
It
is a
grand
celebration
shared
by
Portuguese-speaking
countries
throughout
the
world.
The
2008
Committee
of
the
Day
of
Portugal
and
Portuguese
Heritage
in
RI
is
honored
to
carry
on
this
tradition
begun
by
so
many
proud
Portuguese-Americans
who
came
before
us.
The success of this celebration is a
testament
to
the
pride
and
hard
work
of
our
community.
So
many
beautiful
and
entertaining
events
take
place
during
the
months
of
April,
May
and
June
that
bind
us
together
in
culture
and
fellowship.
It
is
an
opportunity
to
enjoy
our
traditions
and
to
share
them
with
the
entire
state
of
Rhode
Island.
Therefore, let me take this opportunity
to
thank
the
2008
Committee
for
their
dedication
and
tireless
work
as
well
as
the
numerous
clubs,
organizations
and
institutions
that
contribute
to
the
success
of
these
events.
Without
the
dedication
and
contributions
of
so
many,
this
celebration
would
not
be
possible.
“Bem-haja!”
